 The Garage door Cable is attach to a bracket Located on the bottom section of the garage door, then up to a cable drum near the top of the garage door track which is attached to a counterbalance spring.  This cable is under extreme tension and should not be serviced by anyone unfamiliar with a garage door system. Garage Door cables do the work of holding the spring tension that counterbalances the weight of the door, making it possible for us to easily lift a large heavy garage door.

This can make the garage door lift unevenly, causing it to become crooked and unbalanced. Therefore, if your garage door is squeaking, shaking or operating strangely, this could mean a cable has snapped 

One of the main causes of Broken garage Door cables is rust.Remember don't use your garage door if the cable is broken, this can cause additional damage.
